  • The agreement will avoid more than 43,000 tonnes of CO2 over the contract period, equivalent to the emissions associated with the group’s current electricity consumption in Brazil.

  • Following the commissioning of its European PPA in 2025, the company takes another significant step in the execution of its global decarbonization plan.

Roca Group has signed a direct renewable power purchase agreement (PPA) in Brazil with Casa dos Ventos, one of the country’s leading wind and solar energy developers. The 10-year contract will enable 100% of the group’s electricity consumption in Brazil to be supplied with certified renewable energy.

Roca Group has a well-established industrial presence in Brazil, one of its strategic markets, where it manufactures sanitaryware, faucets and other bathroom products for both the local market and export to other Latin American countries. The company operates eight factories in the country, located in Caucaia, Vitória de Santo Antão, Recife, Serra, Santa Luzia and Jundiaí. Two of these facilities —in Vitória de Santo Antão and Jundiaí— have already achieved net-zero emissions in the production process, in line with the group’s decarbonization strategy.

The agreement covers the supply of 35 GWh in 2027 and 69 GWh annually from 2028 onwards. Thanks to this agreement, the emission of more than 43,000 tonnes of CO₂ will be avoided over the contract period, based on the average emissions factor of the Brazilian electricity system.

The associated renewable energy certificates, I-RECs, will be redeemed annually and reported as part of the group’s sustainability disclosures. They will be linked to wind or solar plants that have been in operation for less than 15 years.
This contract contributes to Roca Group’s progress towards its global target, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030, compared with the 2021 baseline.

In addition to its climate contribution, the agreement provides long-term stability in energy costs in an international context marked by volatility in energy prices linked to geopolitical tensions. The transaction has also been structured in a particularly complex environment in Brazil, currently characterized by high interest rates and regulatory changes in the electricity sector.

The agreement was signed with the support of SE Advisory Services, Schneider Electric’s global consulting division, through its strategic PPA advisory services. Its support made it possible to turn the challenges of the Brazilian market into a rigorously structured agreement, based on a comparative analysis of alternatives, risk assessment and expert guidance throughout the structuring and negotiation process, ensuring a robust solution aligned with the group’s decarbonization objectives.
