RGCU Globalisation

Making the RGCU Global has been one of our priorities this year. This means creating an international community, building closer relationships and working as one team.

For RGCU, 2022 has been a year of many changes. Some of these have already come into effect; others will be felt in the first months of 2023.

We’ve gone through a change of management and we are nearly ready to launch our new Learning Management System, Totara. We will also be partnering with goFLUENT, to provide language training across the globe and embarking on a new partnership with IMD (the International Institute for Management Development), which will provide access to several platforms for professional development for leaders within the organisation. Looking ahead, the first contents of the Sales and Manufacturing Academies will be launched in early 2023, providing universal coverage of topics that will benefit employees everywhere in the Group.

These are just some examples of cross-cutting international projects we are leading.

What do all these have in common? They all reflect the shift in the focus of RGCU to providing its services everywhere we operate. One of the objectives set by our CEO, Albert Magrans, was to become more global.

What does all this mean for us? It’s an objective that leaves lots of room for interpretation but also for opportunities. After much reflection and various internal workshops, we came up with a new mission statement for RGCU: “To provide the skills, knowledge and tools to align all members of the organisation to the strategic goals of Roca Group”. From this mission statement, we then defined the next steps to make this happen.

Where do we, the Roca Group as a whole, create value and generate business? In our divisions and business units. Can we at RGCU expect to increase the value we add to the organisation by growing as a team operating in the Group headquarters? Not to the fullest extent possible, since there is a distance between the daily challenges and activities of the business units. We want to reduce this distance.

What’s the solution? The way forward lies in the globalisation of RGCU as a team, not only in its operations but by expanding the RGCU team into the geographic divisions. The objectives of this expansion are to: work closely with the business units to coordinate and align local and global training and development measures; promote and assist the use of the RGCU Learning Management System at the local level; discover and act on synergy opportunities; and identify needs and creating solutions to meet them, always considering global guidelines and philosophies.

Many business units are already doing great things in training and development locally. Business units will retain their autonomy for local measures. However, we believe an expanded RGCU team will be able to add real value to business by helping align local measures with global initiatives and multiplying good local measures elsewhere in the organisation. In the future constellation, the good work of one business unit can benefit many and global measures can also be better implemented and coordinated locally with the assistance of RGCU.

While we believe this measure will be of great value to our international community, your support in this process will be invaluable. We look forward to setting out on this new journey with you. We hope it will bring us all closer together and hope to receive your full support in this journey. Together, we will “make RGCU global”.
